Heat or Cold?

When to use heat for pain

Chronic Pain:
In order to ease chronic pain it is generally recommended that heat therapy be applied to the affected area. Chronic pain is generally persistent, long lasting, and does not involve localized swelling around the affected area. The most common chronic pains include back pain, shoulder pain, muscle pain, arthritic pain, menstrual pain, and headaches. In the past therapeutic heat was generated through the use of hot water bottles which only allowed treatment while in proximity to boiling water. With the advent of new technology such 3SecondHeat pads, heat can be applied anywhere anytime without the use of electricity. This allows individuals to treat their pain anytime no matter where they are located.

Acute Pain:
In order to ease acute pain it is generally recommended to alternate between heat and cold. Acute pain is generally a result of recent trauma that causes immediate pain. Using ice will slow down blood flow and reduce the swelling around the affected area. Cold therapy should be utilized as soon as possible after the injury occurs. Ice Packs, or even frozen goods can be used for cold therapy. There are also single use instant cold packs, but unfortunately there is no such thing as a instant reusable cold product that will allow you to treat your pain anywhere anytime like 3SecondHeat will for heat.
